Grass seed that is spread correctly cannot produce a patchy lawn.

Seed germination rates are normally around 80 - 90%. If the seed is let go dry then this percentage drops. But because the soil dries out at different rates then some of the seed will die sooner than the rest, leaving a patchy looking lawn.


Remedy: 1 Sow the reserve seed you have kept aside to fill the gaps.


Remedy: 2 Fill the gaps with pre germinated seeds.
